The course covers all the basic areas of safe slinging techniques. This includes:

  • Understanding the variety of slings - wire ropes, fibre ropes etc.
  • Selecting the correct sling(s) for the loads
  • Fitting the sling(s) correctly
  • Shortening the sling(s) correctly

All these areas are reinforced by a dvd session and assessed with a written theory test.

  • Choosing the sling
  • Fitting the sling
  • Lifting and manoeuvring the load
  • Awareness of safety procedures
  • The set down and clear up procedure

The course is completed with a question and answer period. Any areas the trainees are uncertain of are cleared up.

The number of trainees on the slinging course is restricted to a maximum of 6. This ensures that each individual can receive sufficient practical experience. The trainee must complete and pass both the theoretical and operational test in order to receive a certificate of basic Slinging Awareness.
